Rugby clubs are welcoming, communal environments always looking for new members, whether you’re looking to play or not, you’ll find yourself fitting in, in no time!

2. Fitness
No matter what level you play, rugby will always test your fitness. Whether it be your strength, agility, power, speed or cardiovascular endurance, it will certainly provide a challenge! From training to game playing, all the above areas of your fitness will be put through the mill, and over time you’ll find them gradually improving.

3. Mental
Being a valued member of a rugby team, or any team for that matter, can be hugely beneficial to your state of mind. Also, like any exercise, playing rugby will help release endorphins, the group of hormones secreted in your brain and nervous system which are responsible for your feelings of excitement and satisfaction.

Interacting and communicating with a close group of friends who are also your teammates can readily improve your confidence, especially if you’re young and seeking to make friends. Growing as a player and hearing praises from your coaches and fellow teammates will also most likely give you the encouragement and self-belief needed in other walks of life.

5. Discipline
In rugby there are many rules which keep you on your toes, and learning to not break these requires discipline. If you don’t have it, don’t worry as that will soon come with time. With discipline comes respect in rugby; treating the referee in the correct manner is perhaps challenging at times but is a crucial part of the game. A disciplined rugby player is a respectful person.
