Dumbbells: 4 Full-Body Exercises to Improve Your Workouts

A full-body workout is a rewarding physical activity, and having different ways to perform these workouts is valuable for your routine.

Fortunately, you have the option of using dumbbells to help you achieve a better exercise experience. Use these full-body dumbbell exercises to help you improve your workouts and make the most of your time in the gym.

1. Squats and Punches

Simple punches are a nice addition to your squats, but to take your workout a step further, add dumbbells to punch with a fist full of metal. The dumbbell will make punching more challenging, pushing the muscles in your arms to their limit.

Squats are one of the top primal movement exercises that are simple but effective in strengthening your thighs, hamstrings, and glutes. Squatting while punching with the dumbbells will involve more muscles, such as your core and back muscles, as you work to maintain balance and punch straight.

2. Lunges with Bicep Curls

This combination is a classic full-body workout with dumbbells, and many people use it to strengthen their balance and build muscle. Dumbbells are some of the best types of home gym equipment according to trainers, in part because they improve other workouts in numerous ways.

Perform lunges to strengthen your legs, and while your legs are bent, perform a bicep curl with both arms. For an improved version of this workout, perform multiple reps of bicep curls for each lunge. The extended time spent in the lunge position will improve the gains you obtain.

3. Russian Twists

Many use Russian twists to strengthen their core and obliques. With the additional weight of dumbbells, the exercise will add a challenging element to the exercise: maintaining your balance to prevent yourself from leaning too far on one side.

Alternating between sides will require you to use more muscles, including your shoulders, biceps, and hip muscles, to hold the dumbbells close and to remain in constant motion.

This full-body exercise will improve your workouts and ensure you use more muscles for the best results in toning your body. You may feel tempted to move your entire body during this workout, but it’s crucial to keep your legs stationary while moving the top half of your body.

4. Burpees

This high-impact exercise will feel more intense with dumbbells. While burpees are typically fast-paced, using dumbbells requires you to slow down and make your movements less explosive.

Perform burpees as you regularly would, but keep the dumbbells in your hands as you perform push-ups, using them as small platforms for your hands. You can also lift the dumbbells above your head as you perform a small jump.

There are many benefits of burpees, including their simplicity. You’ll have a straightforward yet demanding full-body workout session when you combine burpees with the additional weight of dumbbells.

Your workouts should feel rewarding to your body, and a full-body workout with dumbbells will provide that feeling. Use these exercises in your next session and train your body to get more out of every session!
