Healing at Your Fingertips: The Art of Jin Shin — Interview with Alexis Brink

Alexis Brink is the CEO of the Jin Shin Institute in New York City, USA where she maintains a private practice. Her journey into healing started as a 25 year-old dancer from Holland looking to heal a challenging knee injury sustained from endless hours of dance practice and performance while she was in the US. A friend recommended Jin Shin Jyutsu (JSJ) and the next day, she was able to return to dancing. Her curiosity piqued, she followed a 5-day training course and fell in love with this simple yet mighty energy healing practice, which she describes as being connected to something much greater than herself.

As of now, she has been practicing energy healing for over 30 years, her passion for now teaching the art of Jin Shin has taken her all over the world serving individuals, groups, school teachers, nurses, students and more, by guiding them on their own self-healing journey.

Alexis Brink is is the author of “The Art of Jin Shin” and “Healing at Your Fingertips”, written with the aim of helping spread this simple-yet-effective technique across the planet. We were delighted to speak with her recently for an exclusive interview, so without further ado, come with us to find out more about this inspiring, kind-hearted healer in Healing at Your Fingertips: The Art of Jin Shin — An Interview with Alexis Brink.

Hi Alexis,

It’s great to connect with you and we hope you’re keeping well. Welcome to Keep Fit Kingdom and thanks so much for taking some time out to share with us.

Yes thank you, I’m so happy to be here!

Let’s get your views briefly; have you taken a look at our site?

Yes! I see it’s all about keeping your body healthy and fit: food, energy medicine, all kinds of different things.

What do you think of the name Keep Fit Kingdom (or KFK for short)?

I like it very much, because the kingdom is really the highest form where we can house ourselves, so if we see our body as a kingdom, how wonderful is that!

Absolutely. Our mission is to help a billion people reach 100 years of age happily and healthily by 2100, your impressions?

I think it’s a wonderful purpose, because if we are happy and healthy, how wonderful it would be to also reach and have 100 years in your pocket!

Without a doubt, growing old should be without suffering, agreed. Thank you. Let’s start out with some basics.

Background & Career – Getting into Jin Shin

So, Alexis, what made you first decide to get into the healing profession, and specifically into the ancient Japanese healing art of Jin Shin Jyutsu?

Well, I came from Amsterdam to New York to be a dancer, and at some point I had this knee injury that I wasn’t able to heal. I had to stop dancing for weeks at the time and I tried many different things like acupuncture and a chiropractor. Then I came across Jin Shin and, with that, I found a way to take care of my knee by myself.

I would get treatment and additionally I could maintain it myself through simple holds, just by using my hands. So every time I would feel pain come up, I was able to harmonize it and get rid of it. I never had to stop dancing again, so I thought I should really study and learn what this is all about.

Yes, it is indeed a marvellously simple technique. Can you tell us a bit more about the art of Jin Shin; how does it work, and what distinguishes it from other healing modalities?

Well, we use our hands, apply them to our bodies and harmonize the energy. There is a free flow of energy in the body, the body can heal itself with that energy. That is really the main principle, that Jin Shin gets congested or stuck energy to move, so the body can heal itself and function optimally.

How is it different from other modalities? Well, first, we use our hands. When you think of acupuncture, it uses needles, yet it does work in a similar way, using the body’s meridians, by also harmonizing the energy in the body.

When you take a practice like Reiki, it’s a little bit different also, because Jin Shin treats more specific things, like a headache or backache. There are very specific routines or flows we’ll use to harmonize energy, not just a general treatment, it is very individualized, targeting actual complaints or symptoms.

There are similarities too, all these modalities greatly overlap, being built on ancient traditions, with breathing being a very important component to harmonize energy.

A Brief History of Jin Shin

I see. Can you give us a brief history on the Art of Jin Shin?

Sure. The originator is Master Jiro Murai from Japan. A very young person, he came from a long line of medical professionals. With several older brothers, being younger, he didn’t necessarily have to follow in the family’s footsteps, so he was trying to figure out what he had to do.

One day he became very ill, and he had read about these people, who were working with their hands in the past, along with meditation and fasting. So he explored the possible ways to heal himself, and he actually healed himself completely within 8 days!

He healed himself with hand mudras (gestures) which are also in my book “The Art of Jin Shin”, meditation and fasting. He decided to devote the rest of his life to research, study and practice what he called Jin Shin Jyutsu.

That must’ve been quite an intense experience, being so ill and then being able to heal himself so quickly.

Yes, he felt a lot of heat coming from his body, then it would get cold so it was quite an intense healing process in a short time. And the thing is, this can happen to anybody, you just have to practice. Some people ask me if they need to believe in it, so I say it will work, but you need to practice it for it to work, use your hands, place them on your body. I was quite sceptical myself at first, but now I’m in awe when I see the transformations that take place when I work with my clients. It really works!

Agree, I tried the Main Central Flow and my heart area started producing a lot of heat. It got tremendously warm, it takes some getting used to.

It feels nice, right? What’s tremendous about Jin Shin, is that we can practice it on ourselves. That’s also what got me into it.

Yes there’s a very low threshold to get into it, being able to treat and help yourself heal. You’ve got a lot going on online too, we saw you doing Facebook Lives.

Yes, with the coronavirus, I do Lives every day to get self-help routines going for people at home.

Very helpful in these times. To get deeper into the practice, can you explain what SELs (Safety Energy Locations) are and how they operate?

Safety Energy Locations are areas on the body; there are 26 on the right side and 26 on the left side, that Jiro Murai identified. These locations tend to get congested, through our lifestyle or genetic predisposition, or older traumas. With Jin Shin we open them, by placing our hands on them. They’re like little gridlocks and when you hold them, the gridlocks disappear; like traffic jams and then the energy flows again. When all 26 (on both sides) are open, there is complete harmony in the body, that’s what we’re aiming for.

Alexis Reviews Each of the 26 Safety Energy Locations

I heard that issues on the left side of the body are different to those on the right, can you tell us more about that?

Yes, very good point. The right side has to do with our lifestyle, and very much about today’s daily stresses, environment, diet, too little or too much exercise, things like that.

The left side has to do with older and genetic ‘projects’. We call them projects -instead of problems- when we work on them, as they change pretty quickly. It tells you something, when you always have something coming up on the left side of your body, it will tell you that it’s something genetic, or an old trauma.

Got it. So for me, the projects are genetic or old trauma.

That is why we call it self study, now you can ask yourself: “Why is it there?’, “Did I come into the world with this?…or is this something from years ago?”. Jin Shin is really the art of “Getting to Know and Help Yourself”.

Very interesting. So we ask these questions to ourselves, right?

Yes, it’s really a self study, directly related to you. And that is what makes Jin Shin so interesting too.

Can you share some practical applications and cases where it’s shown particularly good results?

Well, there are both superficial and deeper projects. Particular projects, for instance around muscles; back aches or pains in the neck are easier to resolve than other big labels like cancer or auto-immune disorders.

Muscles are easy, as soon as you put your hands on them and they start to release. With a bigger label, you have to unload and support the energies more; it’s a bit more complicated, as they’re deeper projects. With Jin Shin, no matter how deep a project is, people will feel better right away; that’s why daily practice is so important. When Jiro Murai treated people, he would only see them once a month and he gave them forms of self-help to do every day.

Yes, each dis-ease and each person is different, so approaches will be different too, correct?

Yes, you can see it like that. When I started practicing as a professional, I had a lot of clients with breast cancer. And it’s an incredible story, but in short, I would ask them, why do you have this? And they all gave me an answer. We’re not talking fault or guilt here, not at all, yet it really is about understanding yourself, understanding where you are in your life.

Knowing that, you can harmonize. So in the end it is a very positive thing – it isn’t there for no reason at all. And that is what we aim for in Jin Shin. Why is it there? What is the cause? We can work with that, support and harmonize it, so the body can heal.

So, shifting someone’s view on their illness is already a major breakthrough?

Yes. That is why we ask these questions. We want to understand it on a spiritual, physical, mental and emotional level.

It goes really deep! Alexis, who were your main inspirations and influences when starting out on your healing quest?

First of all, my teacher Philomena Dooley, she has really been my teacher for the past 30 years and even though she’s now retired from teaching, we talk to each other all the time. When there is a complicated case, I will call her and we’ll make a case study out of it, which is so interesting. She’s really the one that got me into Jin Shin. She’s a
really wonderful teacher.

I also did study with Haruki Kato in Japan. Actually Philomena invited me to come along with her, so we spent a week at his place, where I did an internship, which was wonderful. And then I also did sessions with Mary Burmeister. Mary is the one that brought the Art of Jin Shin to the United States. At that time, she’d stopped teaching, so I just received special instruction from her.

Then with Pamela Smith, the lady who started the Jin Shin Institute -of which I’m now the president, she passed away and I’m continuing her legacy. She was one of Mary’s main students from the 60’s, I learned a lot from her as well, she was incredible.

Also my clients, each time I place my hands on people, I learn so much, because everybody is different; it’s always a new experience.

Healers United: Alexis’ Friend, Deepak Chopra

That sounds like a very profound tradition and foundation. How nice! We saw an editorial review for your book “The Art of Jin Shin: The Japanese Practice of Healing with Your Fingertips” on Simon and Schuster’s website where Deepak Chopra said about you in the review section of your latest book:

Once in a while, one comes across a person who demonstrates the potential to be extraordinary, I have always been impressed with her desire to break new boundaries and think beyond the ordinary paradigm.

How did Deepak Chopra come to know about you and your healing work?

Yes, that’s such a nice and sweet quote. I met Deepak about 30 years ago, when he wrote the book “Perfect Health” and when I read that, it explained exactly why Jin Shin works. On a quantum physics level, on a consciousness level, because we do tap into universal energy.

So I went out, and I studied with him, and we actually became friends, and I talk to him regularly, we’re always in touch. He is very kind and we have very interesting talks about consciousness, which is great. He just became a really great friend, very supportive and I treated him too, so he was very willing to offer a quote and endorsement for my book when it came out.

That’s very generous of him. I can imagine, when you’re on an upward growth trajectory of your own, you can more readily connect with people on a similar wavelength.

Yes, we have interesting conversations about consciousness and that’s really great.

Jin Shin is accessible to everybody. We call it the Art of Jin Shin, instead of Jin Shin Jyutsu. Jyutsu does mean art, yet the term might otherwise easily get confused with the martial art of jiu-jitsu. Our mission is to open up the Art of Jin Shin to the world, because so many people have never heard of it, whilst it is actually so effective.

Everybody Can Do This

The technique will definitely benefit many more people as it becomes well known globally.

Yes, it’s as simple as holding a finger, or holding your shoulder. And bringing awareness to what we already know (within), we’re just tapping into our own innate wisdom. Jin Shin is very accessible, easy to learn, easy to practice and learn about yourself. You noticed this yourself too, right, since you practiced Jin Shin?

Yes, it’s easy to learn and apply. It would’ve helped in my previous profession too as I used to work as a Speech Language Therapist, (SALT) I’m sure for children who still suck their thumb, for instance, that Jin Shin would be a helpful tool. These kids could easily help themselves by holding their thumb instead.

Yes, they’re already activating the energy they need, but by sucking their thumb. When you see people sticking out their thumb, or hiding it; what is their energetic need? We hold it naturally, when we feel the need. Jin Shin brings an awareness to what we already know.

Do children pick up Jin Shin quicker than grown-ups, what is your experience?

Well, children do not overthink or question everything as much (is it real, is it weird?), and they’re more direct, they will tell you when they’ve had enough. So maybe after ten or twenty minutes they’ll say it’s enough. Grown ups stay a whole hour, as they paid for it!

As Deepak says, “we’re spiritual beings with a human experience”, right? We’re opening up to it again. That has really gotten me into it, I felt connected to this something that is bigger than myself; we can call it Consciousness, Universal Energy; we ALL can get there, it is our birthright! I think children naturally are in that space, without even thinking about it, they just ARE. They’re breathing, they’re just connected.

How Jin Shin Compares with Ayurveda

Yes, you can see it in their eyes, that sparkle they still have! How is what you and Deepak do similar and how is it different? Does the Ayurvedic system of healing readily correspond to Japanese energy healing methods and vice versa?

Well, they all come from the same ancient traditions, they greatly overlap. In Ayurveda, they work with different body types, and in Japanese practices, we also work with different energy pathways. They all overlap, they’re similar in a way, and they work well together.

And as far as the meditation that Deepak teaches and practices goes, it’s very similar because Jin Shin will put you in a meditative state, you automatically get into the breath. When the body harmonizes, the thoughts become quiet. That is similar to meditation.

In Harmony with Universal Energy

Deepak mentioned ‘paradigm’. Can you define what your healing paradigm looks like for us?

My view on healing is that we always have a connection with Source and that it’s perfect. So our individual body, due to lifestyle or stress, gets out of rhythm with this universal energy. In Jin Shin Jyutsu we bring the body back into its rhythm with universal energy; so when you stick with it, it dances together and you’re at peace, your mind slows, your body can heal and the parasympathetic nervous system changes, which is where healing occurs.

I really believe that is what it’s all about. As practitioners we listen to the pulses in the wrist, and what we feel is the relationship between the individual body and universal energy, to bring that back into alignment.

Yes, that is really what I go for when I treat someone, and I can feel that through their pulse.

Alexis’ Aims & Goals

Excellent. So, Alexis, what’s the main focus of your work right now, what are you aiming to accomplish?

At the Institute, our mission is to bring the Art to the world, so many more people can enjoy it. Also reaching out to the younger audience – for instance I have two college-age kids myself – to help them use it. They call me all the time: “Mom, what do you do for this, what do you do for that?” They request help for themselves or friends.

Great to hear that.

And to make it really accessible, I wrote two books, one is coming out in December 2020, and the other, already out, is called, “The Power of Jin Shin”. I’m also in the processes of creating textbooks for people who want to become practitioners. It is called “Healing at Your Fingertips: 80 Quick Fixes for Everyday Ailments from The Art of Jin Shin”, which is a small pocket version. I’m glad it’s coming out at the beginning of December 2020, so it can still make it as a stocking filler!

Sounds like a beautiful Christmas gift.

And in the meantime, a Dutch publisher also bought the book, so it will be translated. Many countries bought it actually, so it’s getting translated in several different languages.

Sounds great. Congratulations on that! I have the original English version of your first book. Nice to hear that people can get your pocket-sized self-help in their own language

Yes, it is very clear with all the pictures in it. Very easy to use.

The pictures, yes, I love that there are so many different people in the book.

Yes, and all these people I have a connection with. Most of them are clients and everybody in the book has been introduced to and knows the Art of Jin Shin. So, it’s very personal to me too.

That’s very heartwarming…

Impact of the Coronavirus

With the grip of the coronavirus pandemic still uneasily upon the world right now, how has that affected your Jin Shin practice? Has it mainly switched over to online programmes and the like?

I had to close my private practice, so I’m not seeing any clients right now, but I’m doing daily Facebook Live practices, so the community can practice along with me. I come up with different flow patterns every day, so people can learn and create a routine that they like. I also have put them on our YouTube channel.

Jin Shin Institute

What I’d really like to do is finish these text books and create webinars along with these books, so people can follow along. These times are so different for everybody, I really like to connect to the community and talk about it, because we’re all going through something we haven’t been through before. It’s a challenge for everyone.

Yes, for sure. Do you still have lockdown in New York?

Well, it’s all beginning to lift now. Fortunately, also I’m not too far from the park, so I take walks there, and walk my dog. Now we also have to wear face coverings, but luckily we’re over the worst of it.

It’s been a challenge for the whole world. I do hope people see a lesson in it. I feel a lot of people have been praying and wishing for a change, and if you know of all these people wanting and asking for climate change, now you see: it is happening!

The environment is getting better, we’re slowing down and there’s less stress and haste. I do hope people will learn from it, including myself.

Indeed, how’s the air now, in New York?

Well, I think it’s better everywhere, all over the world! The pictures of China, the (air) pollution within one week was so much less. A lot of people are turning more inward, are getting more quiet. People calling family they haven’t talked to, so reaching out to loved ones, which is also a nice thing to do. Lots of lessons here, and that is very much what Jin Shin is about: to learn and grow in any situation and apply it to yourself.

Maintaining Sanity during the Pandemic

People are getting more in tune with themselves and others, including my sisterinlaw and young nephew. They keep up a daily spiritual practice of pranayama and yoga, which is very calming, balancing and relaxing too.

Yes, more people are getting into spiritual practices. This (lockdown) is a challenge, we can’t hide or run around all day, because there is no place to run to. We have to slow down and stop. How are you managing, Marleen?

Well I keep up a daily routine: cycling or walking for an hour, pranayamas (yogic breathing). I also do weight training and cardio, that combination keeps me most alert. When my attention span falters, I do short, 5-minute exercise boosts, like walking the stairs or body weight exercises, squats etc.

Good. It’s important to stay fit, as per what your organisation, Keep Fit Kingdom is all about. Eat well, keep fit, under all circumstances!

This is a time that we can really look into this and learn. There are several ways to get into it, cook healthier food, practice Jin Shin or meditate, or do pranayama breathing.

The Main Central Flow: Balancing Your Daily Routine

If I don’t forget, I make room for The Main Central Flow, that’s useful for people going through stress and anxiety at this time; especially now that people are spending more time by themselves, right?

Yes, that is a good one to guide people through. The Jin Shin flow. Especially now! There is a video about it on our YouTube channel.

Main Central Flow

Role of Yoga, Meditation & Spirituality

Do you believe meditation influences or affects health? If so, how?

Absolutely. When we become still, that gives space for all the functions of our body to flow. That is also how Jin Shin works, and the body can heal itself. It slows down everything; it slows down the heart rate, lowers blood pressure. You help to relax the body and mind, which gives space to heal.

The Future of Energy Medicine

How do you think the landscape of healing will evolve in the next 5 years? Do you see energy work as the medicine of the future?

I think it works very nicely, side by side, with Western medicine as well. I’ve treated a lot of clients that have undergone chemotherapy and radiation, and it keeps their immune system up. It works complimentarily. I just hope a lot of people will learn about Jin Shin, this particular healing art, as it is so simple and effective.

How do I see it develop? The same way as yoga which has become a big thing, same as meditation, it became popular. Life was so fast that we had to start doing something to take care of ourselves, slow it all down and turn back inward, go inside. Everything was out, out, out, and we needed to turn inward. Jin Shin will do that as well: you will learn about yourself when you practice it.

How about thought as medicine, is that a possibility?

Well, I think it is important to quiet the mind, so there is space to connect to our Higher Self, in that we need little thought. Thinking is also very important, for the intellectual body, mind and studying – all of these things are important. As long as there is space and time to connect to yourself, so that we get clarity of mind, then we can think clearly. We want clear thoughts, not thoughts tainted by negativity, toxicity and all that stuff.

Alexis Brink’s Tips to Live to 100!

Indeed. The mind is a garden, best to grow and nurture flowers, not weeds! Based on the number of clients you’ve seen over the years, what would be your Top 3 tips to live happily and healthily to a one hundred-year goal?

1. Breathing
Make sure you are breathing. Life is so fast, sometimes we forget to breathe. This is the first area where healing can take place, to get into the breath.

2. Holding Fingers
Another easy way to harmonize our body is by holding our fingers, harmonizing our emotional attitudes. If emotions and feelings get stuck, they don’t move, they become e-motions. It’s important to process them. By holding each of the fingers we can harmonize an emotional attitude.

For example if you have a lot of fear, you can hold your index finger. These days you hear a lot about anxiety and depression, holding your index finger will help. The thumb helps to harmonize when we worry, and it also helps our digestive system. I also teach that to my clients.

3. The Main Central Source
What we went over – with the right hand on top of the head and the left hand between the eyebrows, so starting at the crown and basically going along these main points. It connects us to Source energy. It is a direct connection, and very easy to access. Mary Burmeister always talked about “Being the fun” and yes, having fun is so important!

What advice would you give to those interested in entering the field of energetic healing?

Really that it is already an innate part of us, we’re all born with this wisdom really. It is just us becoming aware of it again, just by holding a finger. Any time you’re holding a finger, you’re actually already practicing the art, even if you’re in doubt, don’t be intimidated. For me, I started 30 years ago and I am still practicing, learning and growing, it’s a lifetime study. If you have a body, Jin Shin is for you! Just start practicing…

Even though I feel energy flowing clearer since my Reiki initiation, even if you don’t happen to feel anything, it works! What’s the most rewarding part of your work right now?

Well with the Covid-19 situation and being quarantined, for me it’s very gratifying to share these routines with the community. We’re offering routines from The House of Jin Shin and sharing routines with the community. Offering Jin Shin Live, from my living room. I really enjoy doing that and connecting to people, so we’re all connected and can practice at the same time. That is very rewarding.

Diet & Lifestyle

Wonderful. So, please tell us what does Alexis Brink’s diet look like these days? What are your regular staples?

Well, my daughter is home and she’s very much into healthy eating, and she is into cooking and makes me great meals every day, which is wonderful and I’m enjoying it. I’m very much a person of moderation, coming from a Dutch background, just like you.

We’re basically brought up with that. It’s a bit different in the US, I think it’s just inborn. I can eat a cookie, but I won’t eat the whole packet. I can have a little wine, take things like that, and I do allow myself to, and my body responds well to moderation. Depending on how you handle it, you can turn any food into a poison or something that serves you and heals you. It really depends on your mind, how you deal with it.

Reminds me of something I also heard Anita Moorjani say, after her near-death experience due to stage 4 cancer: You can eat healthy, but if that’s out of fear, you’re still not nourishing yourself.

Yes, I do think it’s good to stay away from certain foods, because they’re harder to process, but if you’re healthy and eat well, we can tolerate some. In general, eat a very healthy diet, of course. What we put into our body is so important!

Hiro Kato tried it out, when he was fasting, he did all kinds of research on foods, and saw what they do to the energy flow in the body. A lot of his research is based on that.

Sounds fascinating! So, what are your preferred go-to foods today that help keep you at your energetic best?

I like grounding foods, so I like Indian food, some spicy food. And with Jin Shin we also observe, if you like spicy food, what does that tell you energetically? And also if you have cravings for certain foods.

I really like balance, some salty, some sweet, some spicy, I really love all of it. I really love to eat, so I’m not that much into smoothies and things like that, I really like the ritual of eating, the chewing, sitting down to eat, all of it. The digestive process starts with chewing also.

Fitness

I see. What are some of your favourite exercises, or routines whether in the gym or without equipment?

I practice yoga practice almost every day. I start my day with that. I’ve been practicing yoga for a long time. Before I get out of bed, I do my Jin Shin routine. After that, I do my other little things and I do my yoga practice. So yes, I do have a routine, especially with Covid-19 around, it’s important to create a strong daily routine. Not just for me, but for others too. You’ve got to prioritize taking good care of body, mind and spirit.

Tips & Advice

What’s your best energy management tip to quickly shift a low mood?

I would say, sit on your hands (that is SEL 25) which regenerates the body. It gives us energy for body, mind and spirit. You might have noticed that kids often sit on their hands, they quietly regenerate their body. That is a really nice one.

What’s your view on human potential briefly?

Well I really think that is the purpose of life, that we each learn to fulfill our own potential, whatever that might be. That is my journey, to get up every day and make it the best possible day.

A few quick fire questions now…

Fun, Leisure & Reflections

What’s one geeky thing about you that people don’t really know?

Uhm, that I watch TV? (Both laugh) I’ve been watching Cuomo every day, and I love him! Andrew Cuomo, our governor is doing such a good job. There are daily short videos, and I really love those. When I’m listening, he brings so much stability, he’s like a good father really, wonderful.

He definitely seems to be more of a leader than a ‘boss’, and that’s commendable. What are some of your hobbies?

I’m really lucky, because I love my work, Jin Shin is definitely one of my hobbies! I also like yoga, music, art and movies, so I spend my days doing all the things that I enjoy, basically.

That’s a very blessed situation to be in! Can you give us your Top 3 Favourite Books that have inspired you most so far whether in the areas of healing, Reiki, health, self-development or spirituality?

What first got me into spirituality is Krishnamurti, a philosopher, who’s dead now. I’ve read many of his books. What’s really funny, when I first met Deepak Chopra, I was in my early twenties, and I told him I loved Krishnamurti so much, Deepak pulled Krishnamurti’s book out of his briefcase and said, this is where I get my stuff, so yes, that was wonderful.

I just read a book on Einstein which was really wonderful. I learned that I really like science too and certainly quantum physics.

Very nice. I’m reading a book about Newton now by Geert Kimpen about processes in alchemy . You mentioned Deepak, which are your favourite Deepak Chopra books and why?

He has written so many books, I haven’t read all of them, I really enjoyed “Perfect Health -The Complete Mind/Body Guide” because it really talks about quantum physics, and how energy moves in the body, how we connect to Source Energy and Consciousness. Deepak calls it Consciousness, Universal Energy. That’s my favourite book. “The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success” by Deepak is also great.

Such interesting titles. What’s your proudest accomplishment so far, what dreams do you still wish to achieve?

My children are my proudest accomplishment, they’re just wonderful human beings! I love them very much, there’s nothing like that. And secondly, that’s possibly my work because I just love to help people and people find so much relief by this practice. That just is such a great gift, to be able to help people, make them feel better.

What are you most grateful for?

My health, my children, and the art of Jin Shin (both laugh). There are so many people that I love, also my family, I have so much to be grateful for. That’s a really nice question, you asking this is actually a good reminder not to
take it for granted!

Thank you, absolutely. Now to wrap, what are a couple of ideas or motivational quotes that inspire and motivate you to be and do your best?

I like very much that We’re a Microcosm of the Macrocosm, because when you feel down, or feel like this little child inside which is needy and needs comfort, you can always connect to that. That way you can always be a good parent to yourself, connecting to that higher source, that higher self, which is available to all of us, that inspires me a lot.

Another one, Mary Burmeister says “Be the Smile” and that’s so important, because happiness is just the opposite of disease. Smiling and joy are really important for our health.

My transformation coach actually tells me to smile when meditating. Good reminder! Finally, what special message would you like to share with Keep Fit Kingdom readers and those that admire what you do from around the world?

Most importantly, use your hands: use them as jumper cables and apply them to your body. Know that we’re able to help ourselves and heal ourselves by applying our hands. It’s just such a wonderful and easy thing, there’s no complication to it. You can do it anytime.

Always there, always handy.

Yes always there, hanging out, literally.

Thank you very much, Alexis, for your time and kind participation in this interview, we so appreciate you taking the time to share your in-depth wisdom experience around the subject of Jin Shin Jyutsu.

Thank you, I really appreciated talking to you, also reminding myself through your audience. It’s been nice to connect
