Aging doesn’t mean slowing down and letting time pass us by. Consider taking up a hobby like cycling to maintain physical shape and good mental stability too. Staying physically active gets more and more challenging as we age. Muscle and bone structure changes significantly, and aches and pains increase, making it more difficult to exercise.

These can give you a little boost and allow you to move freely, and they provide healthy aerobic exercise. An electric bike can also assist you in any challenges along your ride, so if fatigue sets in before you’re at your destination, you’ll have assistance at your fingertips.

2. Ride with Friends

Riding with friends offers many benefits in addition to the physical. Social interaction as you age can help keep your cognitive abilities sharp and decrease the chances of depression and anxiety.

Take the time to find a few friends who are also interested in being more physically active and consider a weekly ride with a set date and time. If you don’t have any close friends who can or will go with you, there are bike clubs you can join. Cycling is just as mentally beneficial as it is physically.

Consider a wearable hydration pack that won’t compromise your balance. If you begin to feel weak, pull off the trail and take a moment to have a snack and regain control. Don’t be afraid to stop and start as many times as you need to.
