With gym closures happening over the last few months in our country’s lockdowns, many of us have resorted to training at home. Training with your own bodyweight has become a necessity for very many people. With a small investment of a couple of pounds to buy some core sliders, (aka furniture sliders) you can add lots more variations to your bodyweight routines to keep things interesting. Want to see what you can really do to alter your body shape for the better in the space of your own home in 2021? Then read on for Core Sliders: 7 Awesome At-Home Exercises for Killer Ab-Definition!

1. Reverse Lunges

All of us fitness addicts know that lunges are a top exercise for building strong and muscular legs. Using core sliders for the reverse lunge will demand a bit more control to stabilize your core, as well as effort from your hamstrings, quads (thigh muscles), and glutes.

2. Hamstring Curls

You may never want to use your gym’s leg curl machine ever again once you’ve tried the slider hamstring curl! With the correct technique it hits the hamstrings hard keeps your core tight and gives your glutes a solid workout too.

3. Pikes with Core Sliders

If you ever feel like doing a workout to blast your abs, try adding the pike exercise to it. You’ll only need a handful of reps to feel the benefit of this effective move. Sore lower abs are highly likely the next day!

4. Body Saws

The simple addition of core sliders can change your standard plank into something far more exciting, functional, and effective. Regularly using this anti-extension exercise will give you abs of steel, so no holding back O’ budding superheroes!

5. Push Ups with Reach

Quite possibly the hardest exercise on our list, pushups with reach won’t fail to challenge your core, shoulders and triceps. Try reaching out to the side of your body for a slightly different emphasis.

6. Plank Walks

The plank walk with sliders will target your shoulders, lats, and core. Wearing a weighted vest for this exercise will challenge you further and give you a superb workout.

7. Mountain Climbers

Glutes, abs, shoulders and triceps are just some of the several muscle groups worked in this mountain climbers variation. It’s one of those bodyweight exercises that actually feels much better core with sliders than without. A few rounds of these will help you burn those off those extra calories you’ve consumed over the Christmas holidays, and etch in some fantastic muscle definition!

Core sliders can be utilised in many ways and the possibilities are endless. Try some of the exercises in an EMOM (‘Every Minute On the Minute’) session or get creative at home and superset some slider exercises in with other exercises. If hardcore training is more your thing, you could try adding some of the exercises into a “Jailhouse Strong” -style routine for an even tougher (if not brutal!) workout.

Have you incorporated core sliders in your workouts? What effects have you noticed? BODYWEIGHT WORKOUTS ARE GREAT, because you don’t need a gym, or fancy equipment, you just need to learn to make your body your own gym. And why shouldn’t you make the most of your own body, it is YOURS after all!
