BioSpira: 100% Pure Spirulina — Made in Italy

Did you know that spirulina is among the world’s most popular supplements and loaded with nutrients and antioxidants beneficial to both your body and brain? Nutritionists also claim that the quality of the protein it has is comparable to eggs. Spirulina actually provides you with all the essential amino acids that you need. I recently got to try out an extra special spirulina product, so read on to find out what I thought about BioSpira: 100% Pure Spirulina — Made in Italy…

Packaging

I’d received BioSpira spirulina capsules, sticks, flakes and powder. The capsules are packaged in a glass jar of 90 capsules while the sticks, flakes and powder are packed in small, resealable paper bags of 20g. According to their website, you can also get 50g bags or request larger amounts and bulk buys.

On each product there’s a label describing the product as well as giving you instructions on how to use them. I like the packaging, they’re easy to take with you since they are small and don’t take up any space and most importantly they are recyclable, which is a big plus in my book.

Ingredients

All the spirulina products contain 100% organic and pure spirulina algae. It is completely free from any additives, excipients or thickeners. The vegetable agar capsules, as the spirulina itself – are 100% vegan.

Taste

I generally wouldn’t say that the taste of spirulina is amazing even though I don’t mind it. These sticks and flakes however actually taste really good.

The smell from opening the packages is a very fresh one and you can just tell it’s the real deal in these bags. I made a smoothie with the powder to which I added spinach, kale, avocado, banana, ginger, and freshly squeezed lemon.

It turned out looking both vibrant and tasting delicious. I then topped it with fresh berries and spirulina flakes – which are crispy and very rich in flavour. I don’t really know how to describe the taste better than that they taste somewhat salty, in a pleasingly natural way.

I later topped my salad with spirulina sticks which again turned out great! I must say that I am positively surprised by the taste.

The Effects I Experienced

After taking the BioSpira capsules, continuously for almost 3 weeks I feel quite a change in my stomach. It feels like my whole system runs better and as you might already know, it all starts in the tummy.  After one and a half weeks I experienced a feeling of going through a detox, my skin was breaking out and I had to go to the toilet a lot – only to find myself feeling more “clean” on the inside and with clearer skin a few days later.

I believe that the body reflects how it feels through our stomach and skin, and my feeling is that both have improved since starting with the capsules.

Summary

Except for being an potent, nutritious super powder – the BioSpira spirulina I tried passes the satisfaction test across the board.

You can 100% sense and taste the purity of BioSpira’s products and I’m looking forward to experience a difference in my body and mind after consistently taking the capsules over time. There are so many ways in which you can use these products in order to supplement your food with extra nutrition. You can either make a smoothie like I mentioned above – or you can use the powder when making chia pudding or add it in a soup or to your daily green juice.
