Bodybuilding Legends – Chris Bumstead

Canada’s Chris Bumstead is the youngest male bodybuilder to feature in Keep Fit Kingdom’s ever-growing Bodybuilding Legends series. At the age of 26 years-old, he also happens to be the only bodybuilder in this line up who is presently competing, follow on for Bodybuilding Legends – Chris Bumstead!

Chris is the reigning champion of the Classic Physique division in the IFBB Mr. Olympia competition. Since the division’s inception in 2016, the Ontarian bodybuilder has taken first place three times, from 2019 to 2021.

Chris earned his Pro Card in 2016, only two years after his first ever bodybuilding competition. With great genes, coaching from IFBB Pro, Iain Valliere (his brother in law), and finding inspiration from role models, Tom Platz and Arnold Schwarzenegger, it’s no wonder Chris has hit the top ranks so quickly.

Whatever factors Chris has in his favour, there is no escaping the hard gym labors required to become a champion. Leg work and squats are things he values highly, and his leg strength is as equally impressive as his awesome leg muscularity.

Squats are one of his favourite exercises and he has lifted over 600lbs in training. Deadlifts are another important exercise for him, and in mid-2021 he posted a video of himself online lifting an incredible 675lbs for 3 reps.

For his upper body, he thrives on variety and uses a wide range of compound and isolation exercises. Incline presses, pull downs, curls and extensions are some of the movements he frequently employs.

To give you an indication of his upper body strength, he can do reps with 275lbs on the seated barbell shoulder press and reps with 405lbs on the bent over row. With all this tough, wrought heavy lifting, he has built 20-inch arms and a huge chest measuring over 50 inches.

Many of Chris’s fans speculate whether he’ll decide to compete in the Mr. Olympia Open Division (which has no weight limit) or if he will aim to get a fourth Classic Physique win.

No matter which path he chooses, with his determination and rock solid work ethic, we’re sure Chris Bumstead will have boatloads more success in 2022! What do you think of Chris Bumstead’s physique?
