Background and influences
Growing up, a lot of people around me encouraged me, nurtured my potential and believed in me and my capabilities.I particularly remember a teacher called Mrs. Anderson. She encouraged and guided me during my early formative years, showed that she cared and had a lot of compassion. I still vividly, remember her to this day. As a child, I would try to emulate Mrs. Anderson, often attempting to teach my peers and siblings.
Not surprisingly, I started my professional career as a teacher where I educated children up to the age of 12-years old. I found teaching very rewarding and fulfilling. However, I later changed careers and left teaching due to dissatisfaction and lack of freedom.
After I left the teaching profession, I went through a dark period in my life where I felt fearful, depressed and hopeless. It seemed like I lost my way in life and had no purpose. Then, I stumbled across life coaching. At the time, I didn’t even know what life coaching was, but, after I experienced the gift of being coached, it changed my perspective on life entirely. I gained a more positive outlook, my mindset improved and the direction of my life changed. Being coached helped me to realise who I truly am.
“When you learn, teach. When you get, give.” — Maya Angelou
I wanted to give everyone the gift that I had gotten so I trained to become a life coach with an emphasis on stress management. My aim as a stress management life coach is to encourage and nurture other people’s potential as far as possible. I recently conducted a survey on stress and have noted how seriously stress can prevent people from being the best versions of themselves. I believe that most people’s real self doesn’t shine through because they are not on a path that helps them realise their full potential.
The mind affects the body and that’s why I work on changing clients’ thoughts and behaviour patterns. My stress management coaching program incorporates life coaching and stress management training. At the end of each session, I recommend that my clients perform natural and simple activities that help to rewire their brains, reduce stress and create a more positive mindset.
