5 Top Healthy Nice Cream Recipes!

As Buddha once said, “Health is the greatest gift”…Do your taste buds ever start tingling when your body ‘calls you out’ to have a nice, sweet, indulgent treat? Why not have a go at making these dairy, gluten-free (and guilt free) nutritionally-dense nice cream blends that are good for your body and will help keep you in shape? Check out these 5 Top Healthy Nice Cream Recipes! 

1. Coconut Chocolate Chip
Ingredients:
3 medium-sized ripe bananas
¼ cup coconut flakes
1 tablespoon of maple syrup
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
¼ cup of vegan chocolate chip

Method: Add the chopped bananas to your food processor and pulse until the bananas are a nice thick whipped texture. Add in the maple syrup and vanilla and continue blending until you get a smooth and creamy texture. Last of all add in the chocolate chips and coconut, pulse a few more times until the ingredients are fully blended.

2. Tropical Storm
Ingredients:
2 medium-ripe bananas
¼ cup frozen pineapple chunks
¼ cup frozen mango chunks
¼ cup frozen papaya chunks
1 tablespoon of plant-based milk
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

Method: Add chopped bananas to your processor and pulse until they reach a thick whipped texture, add in the pineapple, mango and papaya and continue to pulse. Once all the ingredients are combined, add your plant-based milk and vanilla extract. Blend until a smooth and creamy texture has formed. You can even garnish the nice cream with shredded coconut or pomegranate.

3. Berry Blast
Ingredients:
2 frozen medium-ripe bananas
¼ cup of frozen raspberries
¼ cup of frozen blueberries
¼ cup of strawberries
2 tablespoons of almond milk

Method: Add chopped bananas to your food processor and pulse until a thick-whipped texture. Add in 1 tablespoon of milk and pulse for a few seconds, next add in your blueberries, strawberries and raspberries and pulse for a few more seconds. Lastly add in the other tablespoon of almond milk and blend until it makes a nice smooth creamy texture. Garnish with dried goji berries.

4. Salted Caramel
Ingredients:
3 medium-ripe frozen bananas
¼ cup soft dates
1 tablespoon of almond milk
Pinch of pink Himalayan salt
1 tablespoon of vegan fudge pieces (optional)

Method: Add all ingredients into your processor and blend until the mixt becomes smooth and creamy. Garnish with chopped dates or granola.

5. Avocado Mint Chocolate Chip
Ingredients:
2 medium frozen-ripe bananas
¼ cup of fresh mint leaves
1 tablespoon of almond milk
¼ frozen avocado
2 tablespoons of vegan chocolate chips

Method: Add the banana and avocado into your food processor and pulse until it forms a thickly whipped consistency, add in your mint leaves and chocolate chips and blend until a smooth creamy texture forms.

Don’t forget that if you like soft ice cream simply follow the recipes to have instant nice cream. On the other hand, if you like firm ice cream simply pour the mixture into a freezer friendly container and freeze for between 3-6 hours. Allow 5-15 minutes to thaw before indulging in a scoop…or two…or three! You can also add any (preferably healthy) toppings of your choice to enhance the flavour.
