You have to find the perfect balance between your diet and your work routines. You can start the process and work extremely hard for months and still feel like you haven’t made much progress.

After not reaching the results you want, it’s easy to get discouraged. But that’s okay. You need to remember that this is all a process, and it’s not about the destination. You need to find ways to stay motivated during your slimming or weight loss journey. So without further ado, let’s get into How to Stay Motivated on Your Weight Loss Journey!

Find Your Reason

Don’t just lose weight for the sake of losing weight. You must treat this process like you would any other huge achievement in your life.

Just as you have reasons for changing your career goals, you need to have reasons for choosing to lose weight. When you find a reason, you now have a goal in sight that makes it easier to stay motivated. A purpose is the name of the game. Maybe you want to change up your wardrobe, or your doctor has advised you to lose weight for health reasons. Whatever the case, you need something to keep you going. On the days when you don’t feel like continuing, you’ll remember your reason and find that motivation again.

Be Kind and Realistic

You need to stay realistic, but more importantly, you need to stay kind. After a rigorous workout, give yourself some praise. A few kind words go a long way. You’ll feel accomplished after each workout. Don’t just give yourself praise on the good days, either. On the days when you feel like you fell off the wagon a bit, you should still take the time to give yourself a compliment. So give yourself a high-five!

You deserve praise no matter what the scale says. Try not to set high expectations for yourself because you’ll be more likely to feel like a failure if you don’t reach them. Tell yourself you’ll try to complete an hour of an ab workout or jog for one mile. These smaller goals will help you stay consistent and increase the likelihood of long-term lifestyle changes.

Track Your Progress

Don’t solely rely on the scale. They say scales don’t lie, but sometimes they do. There are other ways to document your progress and see some promising results. You don’t have to throw out your scales entirely, but you should consider tracking your weight loss with a body measuring tape instead.

Even if the scale does not show you any weight loss, the measuring tape may show you different types of body changes, which can help you feel more accomplished. When you feel like you’re making actual progress, your motivation will come naturally.

Pay Attention to Your Feelings

Focus on how you feel after a workout. If you feel a runner’s high after doing some cardio, focus on that. During the workout, you might feel strained and tired, but once you complete it, you’ll have a buzz. That buzz is a good sign.

Once you savor that feeling, you’ll try and chase that buzz again. You won’t have time to feel frustrated and discouraged because all your attention will be focused on the moments when you feel fantastic

Staying motivated during your weight loss journey is the only way to get through the process. Don’t let bad days stop you from reaching your goals!
