Top 5 Vegan, BBQ-Proof Burger Recipes You’ll Love!

Summer is finally coming back around, and for most people lockdown is coming to a close, so I’ve put together the best vegan burger recipes I could find – all of which are eminently grillable! That’s right, these are vegan burger mixes that you can throw on the barbecue without worrying about them falling apart, which some delicious vegan burger mixes unfortunately often do. Take a look at these 5 vegan BBQ-proof burger recipes, all of which were lovingly thought up by the vegan community in Top 5 Vegan BBQ-Proof Burger Recipes You’ll Love!

1. The Cheeky Chickpea’s Vegan Burger

This burger is mushroom-based, but not to worry if you are not a fan of mushrooms – you can’t notice them over the beautiful flavour of this burger. The texture of this burger is amazing, it’s slightly chewy and very meat-like. What makes The Cheeky Chickpea’s burger unique for me is its taste; the Worcestershire sauce and bouillon paste do the trick!

2. Abbey’s Kitchen Gluten-Free Vegan Burger

Even meat-eaters won’t know that this burger is vegan! Its secret ingredient is quinoa, along with walnuts, giving the burgers a meat-like feel. Perfect with topping like mustard and avocado, and pair with a gluten-free bun.

3. Nutrition Refined’s Gluten-Free Vegan BBQ Burger

Here’s another gluten-free vegan burger that’s perfect for the barbecue! What makes this burger special for me, is how healthy it is. It’s a great alternative to usual barbecue food, and still just as delicious! This recipe requires a little more patience as you need to soak the black beans overnight for 8 hours – but if you’re lazy like me, simply buy pre-cooked tinned black beans and drain them!

4. Minimalist Baker’s Quick & Easy Vegan Burger

This is an easy recipe with very few ingredients, and easy prep to boot! Black beans, brown rice, walnuts and spices, sautéed onions, panko breadcrumbs and barbecue sauce make up this recipe. These are easy to make, with only a 30-minute total prep and cook time, not to mention utterly delicious!

5. Madeleine Olivia’s Spicy Black Bean Burgers

This burger has a little more kick than the others mentioned above. For those who like a spicy kick, this is the BBQ-proof vegan burger for you!

Make sure to give these a shot on your barbecue grill in this gorgeous, outdoor-eating weather we’re starting to have, (Note: in the UK, we can look forward to 2 weeks of this…) and you’re simply going to love these!
