Review: “The Body Bible”, as a title? Well, that’s a big claim to make. A bible should contain everything you need to follow a regime and although it makes it sound like being healthy is a religion, in all honesty it sort of is! Alice has created a book that definitely lives up to the ‘bible’ claims and will become your go-to when following a healthy way of living.

It’s cleverly broken down into sections that range from food to exercise so nothing is missed and you have no excuse not to become healthier. You’re not expected to restrict your calories drastically or spend 7-days-a-week in the gym. Alice has put together easy to follow workouts you can do anywhere and you only need 20-30 minutes a day, four days a week.

Her toned and lean physique is evidence that although it is hard work, you don’t need an expensive gym membership or fancy food to look like her! All you need is yourself, a bit of motivation and dedication. Alice is relatable which makes her book easy to read, she talks about how unhealthy she was at university and although she studied dance she couldn’t out-train her bad diet. It wasn’t until members of her family got diagnosed with type 2 diabetes that she realised she needed to change or she would end up the same way.

Her recipes are refreshingly easy to make and I will confess to trying out the Stuffed French Toast with Almond Butter and Banana which was so simple yet felt and tasted indulgent! The food section of this book is followed by a comprehensive exercise plan, but don’t be put off, it’s picture based so Alice shows us how to get into different positions such as squats, planks and lunges. The best part is that it’s so easy to follow and is broken down into different parts of the body. Want washboard abs? There’s a section for that!

The motivational quotes dotted throughout this book make it unique and are designed to get you excited about this new health journey. ‘It doesn’t matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop’, well if that doesn’t inspire you I don’t know what will. The book is down-to-earth, realistic, colourful and inspiring. If you just want one book to help you kick start your journey to the body of your dreams, this is the one for you.

Summary: I can’t fault this inspiring ‘bible’ of a book. It not only gives you a range of easy delicious alternatives to your favourite comfort food but there’s also an exercise section that shows you don’t need a gym to get lean! Easy to follow, this book shows you that there are no excuses to not get the body of your dreams. Alice shows you how to heal your damaging relationship with food so that you nourish your body with wholesome easy-to-make meals and do quick workouts that can fit into anyone’s busy day.

Book Rating: 10/10

  • “Food is fuel, it’s what keeps us alive and it should be enjoyed, not feared.”
  • “There is no right or wrong way to get active and exercise. You just have to find something you love, do it and stick to it!”
