The 7 Must-Haves for New Homeowners

If you’ve just moved into a new home, congratulations! Owning a home is a huge accomplishment. But now that you’re a homeowner, there are certain things you need to have (before you build your home gym of course!) in order to keep your home running smoothly. Here are the The 7 Must-Haves for New Homeowners!

1. Toolkit

If you don’t already have a toolkit, now is the time to get one. Even if you’re not particularly handy, a toolkit will come in handy for small repairs around the house.

For example, you may need to tighten a loose doorknob or hang a picture. A toolkit will also come in handy if you need to make any major repairs, like fixing a leaky faucet. And if you don’t know how to use the tools in your toolkit, don’t worry. There are plenty of instructional videos online that can show you how.

2. Good Vacuum Cleaner

You’re going to need a good vacuum cleaner to keep your carpets and floors clean. If you have pets, you may want to invest in a vacuum cleaner that’s specifically designed for pet hair.

You’ll also want to make sure you have enough vacuum cleaner bags. If you run out of bags, your vacuum cleaner won’t work as well.

3. Cleaning Supplies

In addition to a vacuum cleaner, you’re going to need some basic cleaning supplies. This includes things like dish soap, laundry detergent, and all-purpose cleaner.

You may also want to buy some microfiber cloths. Microfiber cloths are great for dusting and cleaning surfaces like windows and mirrors.

4. First Aid Kit

Accidents happen, so it’s important to be prepared. A first aid kit will come in handy if you or a family member gets hurt.

Your first aid kit should include bandages, gauze, and antiseptic wipes. You may also want to include pain medication, like ibuprofen or acetaminophen.

5. Fire Extinguisher

You should have at least one fire extinguisher in your home. Ideally, you should have one on each level of your home.

Fire extinguishers are essential for putting out small fires before they get out of control. If you don’t have a fire extinguisher, you may not be able to put out a fire in time.

6. Home Security System

If you don’t already have a home security system, now is the time to get one. Home security can deter burglars and keep your family safe. Plus, it can save you money on your homeowners insurance.

There are a lot of different types of home security systems to choose from. You can get a simple system that just has a few sensors, or you can get a more complex system with cameras and a monitoring service. For more information on home security, click here: https://www.home-security.com

7. Smoke Alarms

You should have smoke alarms in every room of your house. Smoke alarms can save your life by giving you early warning of a fire. Be sure to test your smoke alarms regularly to make sure they’re working properly. You should also replace the batteries at least once a year.

These are just a few of the things you need as a new homeowner. With these essentials, you’ll be well on your way to keeping your home in tip-top shape.
