Self-Care 101: 6 Tips for Busy People

In this fast-paced, modern-day world, it is essential to find time to relax. It is very easy to feel anxiety, stress and overwhelm in your professional and personal lifestyle. Everyone knows if we are in better shape, then we can look after our loved ones and be efficient and effective at the work we are doing. Each one of us should indulge in activities that elevate our mental, emotional and physical wellbeing. It makes us our own best friend and refuels us with vitality. But we have to make sure that it doesn’t turn into a chore or something that we ‘have to’ force on ourselves. Check out Self-Care 101: 6 Tips for Busy People!

1. Morning Writing

This is a technique which is used by artists, writers and creatives allows the full and free rein of your own stream of consciousness: by writing. It’s simple, just freely write three long pages about everything that pops into your mind. This helps you to embrace your inner child and trust your own inner guidance.

This process also helps to boost your creativity, confidence and inspire you to live your own unique dream life more passionately. The pages allow you to give form to your wild emotions and your inner critic.

Analyse what you’ve scribbled down and edit away what you don’t want so you can focus on what you do want.

2. Meditation

Meditation is the best thing you can do for yourself in life. It makes you more aware of who you are. It is a relatively simple activity that can be done in a quiet corner of your home. Sit down cross-legged on a mat, close your eyes and focus on your breathing.

The benefits of meditation are immense and scientific evidence backs its effectiveness in boosting intelligence, self-esteem, and reducing stress. It makes a person become more kind, loving and empathetic.

3. Focus on Simple Tasks

Sometimes your goals and aspirations can seem overwhelming and look like an uphill battle. It’s easy to lose track on the one hand, but on the other you can work on simple tasks first or chunk things down into much smaller parts (eg. 10-minute time blocks) to ensure regular daily progress. You can even make a fun game of it and see how much you can do in 10 or 15 or 30 minutes and so on. This will boost your confidence and make you feel better about yourself.

4. Positive Self Talk

Make sure that you always take things constructively, don’t be harsh on yourself if things don’t go the way you planned. It’s necessary to maintain positive self-talk, and a ‘can do’ mindset which helps you to smash through your work and allow you to bask in the feel-good vibes of daily progress.

5. Spend Time in Nature

Find time to spend in the woods and in nature. Go for a trek if you have a hill nearby. This for of self-care will help you connect with the beauty of nature and feel at peace with yourself. The serenity of nature’s sanctum will fill you with love, peace and creative ideas.

6. Listen to Music

While you are commuting or are stuck in the traffic. Listen to music. If you feel like not doing anything and you’re stuck. Listen to music. Music helps to clear your mind and soothe your senses with new rhythms, beats and symphony. More importantly the journeys you take into your imagination will definitely reduce stress and better, inspire you to refreshing new heights!

These are some of the ways people who are always on the go can take care of themselves. It is essential to include some of these self-care tips in your routine to enjoy optimum health and wellbeing. Life becomes more enjoyable when you have good health and love yourself from the bottom of your heart. It helps you to tackle the challenges in your life with enthusiasm and an open heart.

When things get overwhelming and out of control, always remember to take a deep breath and relax and forget your ego by indulging in some self-care. Then come back fully charged with gusto!
