Olympic Trampoline: 4 Great Champion Gymnasts

At this year’s Tokyo Olympics, Belarus’ Ivan Litvinovich, scoring 61.715, left the best for last to win gold on the final routine of the men’s trampoline gymnastics, with China’s Dong Dong coming in second, with a score of 61.235.

With that we thought we’d take a look at some of the great gymnasts who have competed in this fabulous event throughout history in Olympic Trampoline: 4 Great Champion Gymnasts!

1. Karen Cockburn

This Canadian trampoline gymnast is a 3-time bronze medallist, winning bronze at the 2000, 2004, and 2008 Summer Olympics, as well as winning silver at the latter. She won a gold medal at the 2003 Trampoline World Championships in Hanover, Germany at the same event and a bronze in the team event

With three Olympic medals to her credit, Karen Cockburn is the most awarded female trampoline gymnast in history.

2. Dong Dong

Dong’s silver medal at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro made him the first Chinese trampoline gymnast of either gender. He was the first male trampoline gymnast from any nation to win three Olympic medals, after he won gold in 2012 and bronze in 2008.

In 2018 he became the first Chinese trampoline gymnast, and second trampoline gymnast from any nation (after Russian, Alexander Moskalenko) to win 12-career gold medals at the world championships

3. He Wenna

Wenna is a female Chinese trampoline gymnast who brought home the gold from the 2008 Beijing Olympics with a score of 37.80, and also won the bronze medal at the 2012 London Olympics.

She won a gold medal in the team event at the 2007 and 2009 Trampoline World Championships.

In 2009, she also won a silver medal in the individuals. At the 2011 Trampoline World Championships, she won both Team and Individual Gold medals securing a place for China in the Olympics.

4. Rosie MacLennan

MacLennan was Canada’s only gold medallist from the London 2012 Games, rising to the top of the trampoline gymnast charts. She also won gold 4 years later at Rio 2016.
