6 Tips to Encourage Your Mom to Workout!

Working out is essential to your daily routine if you want to stay healthy. It’s also one of the most complex tasks to get hooked onto. It’s harder for moms who are getting older, with their bodies changing over time, bone structure changes and so on. So please encourage your mom to step up a little and help to get them active, follow on for 6 Tips to Encourage Your Mom to Workout!

1. Motivate Them with Love and Care

Humans are naturally able to achieve more things when they are encouraged with love and appreciation. They tend to do more things when people see their efforts and appreciate them.

When people see you genuinely care for them, it is easier for them to get on a hard task and finish it. Tell your mom how much you care for her health, and allow her to see the positive health changes she will make when she starts her workout journey.

Don’t force them; just keep talking about it until they feel like it is time for a change. You will need a lot of patience, but hey, your mom was patient while raising you!

2. Give Them Tools to Get Started

If words don’t seem to work, give them equipment to work with! Get them a hula-hoop, tracksuit for running purposes, or even a treadmill if you’re extra.

One key point is that you don’t want to get something that makes working out too complicated for them but rather makes it easier. It can be hard to decide what to get but think of it as if you’re buying gifts for an active woman, and it might make it easier for you.

3. Give Them a Reason to Stick to it

When you’re trying to motivate them with love, it is vital to give them a reason why they should do it in the first place. Even though “being healthy and fit” should give them enough push to start, sometimes they might need more. Possible motivations might be;

Tell them you want them to be fit and healthy for a long time so they can see their grandchild grow. Tell them it will increase their lifespan and help them increase the fat burning in their body and get them more fit. Even encourage her to become a young and beautiful grandma. Give them their “whys” and watch them accelerate!

4. Join Them on Their Journey!

This is a part you might not enjoy unless you’re an active person! If you want to encourage them, try to be part of the reason why as well. Join them in their workout. Run together, do the jogs and cardio, and maybe do some exercise together as a family.

This will not only help them continue due to your dedication of being a driving force for them, but it also will push them as they see you work hard for them too. Now that we think of it this way, it’s a great way to encourage them to get started and also helps you get fit too! How cool is that! Consider that a win-win!

5. Set Goals

When it comes to encouraging them, you need to start somewhere. Make a plan with your mom about what they would like to do. What’s the first thing they want to try out, and how long do they wish to do it for?

Goals are an excellent way to envision the path. This will prevent your mom from getting confused and using that as an excuse to quit (we’ve all been there)! Set a goal to walk or jog for 10 minutes. Tell them to do some yoga or squats and so on. Start with minimal, low-effort goals, and then build your way up till she gets the hang of it.

6. Celebrate Their Wins!

When you set goals, you must achieve them. When you reach them, it calls for a celebration! Celebrate and support their small steps, and give them affirmations that they’re doing well. Make sure your mom sees that you appreciate their effort.

Give them a massage or a tasty treat, like an ice cream outing. However, please make sure you don’t overdo it, as things are better when balanced. Celebrate it and then get back on track, and with time you’ll see them get more and more motivated to work harder.

We hope these tips help you encourage your mom to work out. Moms already have quite a lot on their plates, and this new addition might feel like yet another burden. This is why it is crucial to let them know how many health benefits are built into working out.

So, it might seem like you’ve got your work cut out for you on this one, but just don’t quit, and you’ll be surprised what kind of progress you’ll make. Keep using these tips and your mom will become more active! How would you encourage your mom to keep fit? Comment your thoughts below, and join in the conversation on FacebookTwitter & Instagram!
