5 Awesome British Strongman Physiques!

Following on from our previous strength and muscle feature “5 Awesome Strongman Physiques”, we decided to add a few more super strongmen to inspire you. This time they are all from our own great and green land of Great Britain. We selected these men based on two criteria: they must have competed in the World’s Strongest Man and they must have a great physique, so without further ado let’s enter these 5 Awesome British Strongman Physiques!

1. Gary Taylor

Stepping back to the 1990’s for our first awesome physique, Welshman Gary Taylor was a powerfully built strongman who had great success in this sport. He competed in five World’s Strongest Man competitions, winning the title in 1993 and becoming the third Brit to do so. He was previously a bodybuilder before entering the sport of strongman. Huge wing-like lats and well-developed biceps stood out on Gary’s physique. This man had plenty of muscle mass at hand to deal with the demands of cumbersome car carries, heavy Hercules Holds and lifting awkward Atlas Stones onto their platforms.

2. Mark Felix

Much respect and admiration is due to this incredible strongman who has competed in 12 World’s Strongest Man tournaments. A competitive bodybuilder before becoming a strongman, Felix already had plenty of muscle to help him shift astronomical weights. His passion for deadlifting has likely contributed to building his broad back, big traps and thick forearms. He’s held several deadlift records including the 2 man deadlift world record of 850kg which he did with Eddie Hall. Considering that he is now in his fifties, Mark is in fantastic shape and can still challenge the younger men in the sport, pretty much any day.

3. Darren Saddler

Not all strongmen are over 6 feet tall and weigh more than 300lbs because Darren Sadler is one of the smaller and lighter elite strongmen. He may not be as heavy as the big guys but his physique is certainly one of the most muscular. He includes bodybuilding exercises in his training programmes for better performance and to look good. He’s competed in four World’s Strongest Man competitions and he’s known for his spectacular performances on the Conan’s Wheel. He beat veteran strongmen such as Laurence Shahlaei and Rob Frampton in this event in Britain’s Strongest man 2016.

4. Terry Hollands

One of the most experienced British Strongmen, Terry Hollands has competed in a very long list of World’s Strongest Man and British strongman competitions. He may not have been ultra lean in his early strongman days but he has recently made a stunning transformation and now boasts a six pack to be proud of. He’s lighter, leaner and just as strong as ever; he recently placed 3rd out of 13 athletes in Britain’s Strongest Man 2018. Terry is exciting to watch and never fails to impress.

5. Eddy Ellwood

This gigantic bodybuilder from the North of England had muscles everywhere from head to toe. Before switching his focus to strongman, Eddy had won five Mr Universe titles in a stellar bodybuilding career. Standing over 6 feet tall with muscles of twisted steel, he was guaranteed to find some success in the sport of strongman. He won England’s Strongest Man three times and competed in the World’s Strongest Man in 2003.

If five strongmen wasn’t quite enough to satisfy your craving for strength, muscle and power, we’ll treat you to a couple of more names for you to look up while you surf the net. He also includes rigorous bodyweight, sprinting and kettlebell training regularly in his routines. He believes in the transformative power of the squat which is (believe it or not) his favourite exercise!
