3 TikTok Vegan Foodie Trends You Must Try!

With lockdown restrictions still lingering in place, people have set out trying different food trends on TikTok – with great success. So, whether that be a new twist on your morning coffee, a more playful pancake stack, or a unique recipe for using up leftover carrots, read on for the 3 TikTok Vegan Foodie Trends You Must Try!

1. Dalgona Coffee

Type in #dalgonacoffee on TikTok and over 370 million search results will be retrieved. Failing that, type the same hashtag into Instagram and you’ll be met with at least 465,000 photos. It’s safe to say that everyone is loving this TikTok trend.

A Dalgona coffee is a type of Korean coffee, made with only 3 ingredients, almost resembling a cappuccino in reverse. Whereas the milk in a cappuccino is frothed and sits on top of the coffee, in a Dalgona coffee, it’s the coffee that’s frothed and sits on top of the milk.

To make, simply combine 1 tablespoon of instant coffee, sugar and boiling water and whisk for at least 2 minutes until the coffee mixture has a whipped consistency. Pour your milk of choice into a glass with ice and tip the whipped coffee mixture on top. How’s that for an afternoon pick me up!

2. Carrot Bacon

Though this idea isn’t necessarily new, Tabitha Brown recently shared her creation of carrot bacon, and so far, it’s met the approval of no less than 3.2 million viewers.

Start by grating a carrot into thin ribbons to form your ‘bacon’. Then, create the seasoning through combining maple syrup, smoky paprika, liquid smoke, garlic powder and onion powder in a bowl. Add the carrot ribbons to this mixture and allow them to marinate for at least 2 minutes or until well coated.

Bake in the oven for approximately 5 minutes, and there you have it – guilt-free bacon!

3. Pancake Cereal

Move aside American pancakes, brunches now consist of tiny pancakes eaten out of a bowl with your favourite toppings. It seems like the perfect breakfast to serve to your kids, but wait until you try it and you’re likely to become hooked too.

Any pancake recipe will work – it’s only the size that changes. When you come to add the batter to the pancake pan, make sure to only add small spoonfuls (being mindful that the mixture will spread out in the pan – start small). Fry for around 3 minutes on each side.

Keep them warm in the oven whilst you work your way through the rest of your pancake batter. Upon completion, add your pancake cereal to your bowl and top with maple syrup, icing sugar and a teaspoon of butter.

If this didn’t encourage you to go and try all three, have a scroll around on TikTok and see what other food trends you can find – there’s plenty of choice! Otherwise, get creating and share your creations and thoughts in the comments below, or on FacebookTwitter & Instagram
