3 Super-Cheap & Delicious Vegan Dessert Recipes!

Having a healthy lifestyle isn’t perhaps the cheapest way of living – although, some may argue that you can’t put a price on your health. Still, we all have different budgets. After being a student for almost four years, I sure know it’s hard to pin down healthy cheap vegan dessert recipes while on a tight budget – but I now know it’s possible. If you’re looking to buy healthy treats it’s usually going to work out expensive – but if you learn how to make them yourself, you’ll save a lot of money, trust me. So, without further ado, here are 3 Super-Cheap & Delicious Vegan Dessert Recipes!

1. Sweet Banana Bites with Peanut Butter

Ingredients: You’ll need one or two bananas (15p per banana), 2 tbsp. unsweetened peanut butter (£2 per jar), 50g dark chocolate minimum 70% cacao content (£2 per 100g). All together this costs about £4.15 and you can use the peanut butter for making this dessert at least five times.

Method: First, carefully melt the chocolate. Then, slice the banana and put peanut butter between two pieces. Dip the banana and peanut butter bites in the melted chocolate and then put them in the freezer for about 20 minutes, or until you want to eat them. Delicious!

2. Chocolate-Covered Cashew Balls

Ingredients: You’ll need 50g dark chocolate minimum 70% cacao content (£2 per 100g), 100g unsalted cashew nuts (£1.50 per 100 g) and 10 dates (£1.50 per 200g). Altogether this costs about £5 and you can use the cacao powder at least twenty times or more to make this dessert.

Method: Start by soaking the cashews for at least 15 minutes and unseeding the dates and meanwhile, melt the chocolate. Then, rinse the dates and cashews thoroughly and use a blender to mix them into a batter. Wet your hands with cold water and start rolling small balls that you then dip in the chocolate. Put them in the fridge for 20 minutes then they’ll be ready to be enjoyed!

3. Sweet Potato Chocolate Mousse

Ingredients: You need one or two sweet potatoes (£0.50 per potato), 1 tbsp. agave syrup (£2.50 per 250ml bottle), 2 tbsp. cacao powder (£1.80 per pack) and 1 tbsp. cold-pressed coconut oil (£3.50 per jar of 250ml). Altogether this costs £8.30 and you can use most of the ingredients several more times for making this desert.

Method: Start by peeling the sweet potato and cut it into small cubes. Then, put the cubes in a bowl, add coconut oil and agave syrup and stir gently. After making sure all the cubes are covered, put them in a baking pan and oven roast them for 10-15 minutes (at 200°C). When done, whip the sweet potato with cacao powder into a tasty mousse.

So you see, you too can do this for pretty cheap! I believe it’s all about prioritising. Since I had to practise shopping on a low budget for a rather long time, I realised that all I needed to do was put a little more thought and effort to make it work. I also had to be creative and at least have a go at making things myself. These cheap vegan dessert recipes give you more than one portion, so store what’s left in the refrigerator or the freezer for use later. Most of the desserts also contain one or more of the same product which you can then use more than once.
