Top 5 Health Benefits of a Vegan Diet!

While many choose veganism for ethical reasons, it’s time to acknowledge the major health benefits that come along with following a vegan diet. Read on to discover why plant-based or vegan diets are well worth trying as we go into the Top 5 Health Benefits of a Vegan Diet!

1. A healthy heart
Plant foods contains no cholesterol whatsoever. Cholesterol is a substance found exclusively in animal-derived foods, too much of which clogs the arteries leading to heart attacks and strokes. Cut out the animal products and you massively cut out the risk of heart disease!

2. Healthy and sustainable weight loss
Weight loss is another pleasant effect of a vegan diet reported by many.  Following a vegan diet is ideal for weight management, as plant foods have a lower caloric density albeit a nutrient dense one compared to animal-derived foods and they contain a lot more fibre which keeps us fuller for longer – a recipe for weight loss success!

3. More energy
When following a vegan diet, you will find that your energy is much higher. Initially you may experience slight fatigue as your body enters a detox phase to flush out any nasty toxins, but after a week or two you will be buzzing with energy!

4. Improved digestion
A vegan diet is superb for aiding most digestive issues, it has even been claimed to manage IBS and Crohn’s disease. Plant foods are digested faster in the gut which results in less bloating and more regular bowel movements while toxins are regularly exiting the body

5. Clearer skin
One major benefit that I’ve personally experienced since adopting a vegan diet is clearer skin. A vegan diet is ideal for anyone struggling with acne, mostly due to the removal of dairy from the diet which (due to harmful mass-farming methods) is full of unnecessary hormones that can have a tendency to wreak havoc on our body and skin.

A well balanced, healthy vegan diet will inevitably reap you a host of advantages as well as prevention of the world’s most prevalent non-communicable diseases -you may even delay death with veganism according to the video above!
