Native to the Mediterranean region and one of the most commonly found herbs on the spice rack, Rosemary is probably one of the most popular herbs on the planet. It has a welcoming, homely aroma and provides a lovely, subtle taste to almost any dish. But, did you know that it can also be used to detoxify the body? 1.  Memory booster
Rosemary was mainly used as a memory booster in Ancient Greece. It has been said that sniffing the herb improves memory function, ability to focus and cognitive function. While this is still being researched, it’s also been noted to stimulate brain activity in those who suffering from Alzheimer’s and dementia. If you are studying for your exams, it may certainly help!

2. Stress reduction
Its fresh smell has been found to help reduce anxiety levels, relieve stress and improve overall mood. This is why it’s one of the most popular essential oils used in aromatherapy. There is no set concentration for the use of the oil to receive these benefits for stress, but heat the oil in a well-ventilated area.

3. High Vitamin C content
Compared to herbs such as basil and paprika, Rosemary has a high vitamin C content, with 50g containing around 11mg of the vitamin; paprika only about 0.45mg per 50g while basil yields 9mg. If you’re feeling a bit under the weather and want to add some flavour to your soup, bring Rosemary to your rescue!

4. Skin health
It has been said that Rosemary helps slow down the aging process of the skin as well as help reduce the appearance of blemishes and bites on the skin thanks to its antiseptic properties.

5. Stomach soothing
In the past, Rosemary has traditionally been used as a remedy for constipation, bloating and upset stomach, it contains anti-inflammatory properties which have been found to counteract the effects of indigestion. It also helps by regulating bowel movement.
