Top 5 Health Benefits of Mango!

Mangoes are native to the South of Asia where the common or Indian mango (Mangifera indica) is exported worldwide as one of the most widely cultivated tropical fruits. Mangoes are an utterly delicious, sweet fruit, full of flavour,  juice and a soft texture that adds colour to your plate. Whilst being a sweet treat, it’s fat and cholesterol free. My love for mango makes me doubly passionate to share these Top 5 Health Benefits of Mango with you!

1. Promotes healthy skin, vision and your immune system
Mango provides the body with a good quantity of Vitamin A, this is also known as retinol. This assists your immune system to function optimally, promote good vision, as well as boost your immunity to disease and maintain skin health.

2. Fights heatstroke
This is an extraordinary and often unknown characteristic of mango: it helps fight heat stroke! Whilst being a delicious fruit on a summer’s day, it can also help the body cool down and prevent damage due to bodily overheating after prolonged exposure to the sun and heat. Tip: add water to mango once juiced and then consume, this juice will tremendously help to hydrate you, and prevent heat stroke, as well as cure it.

3. Contains Vitamin C
Mango has high quantities of vitamin C, which is also known as ascorbic acid. Vitamin C acts as an antioxidant. The body naturally produces “free radicals” and antioxidants counteract their damaging effects. Vitamin C, protects cells and keeping them healthy, maintaining healthy connective tissue, and giving support and structure for other tissues and organs, along with speedier wound healing and blood clotting. In regular doses, vitamin C is also beneficial in protecting yourself from those dreaded colds and flu viruses!

4. Good source of dietary fibre
Did you know that fibre is only found in food that comes from plants? Mango is a plant that is full of fibre, forming part of a healthy balanced diet. Studies have proved that fibre helps prevent heart disease, diabetes, weight gain, improve digestive health, and as a soluble fibre, can also reduce cholesterol.
