The Primal Pantry – Paleo Bars

The Primal Pantry tribe first evolved in February 2014 when founder and nutritionist Suzie Walker had perfected her Paleo Bars that she first created late 2013. The Primal Pantry was born and a mission for a real food revolution had begun. The clean eating bars were initially made at home by Suzie for her daughter as a healthy snack, but now the bars are available to all to enjoy and are not only for who prefer Paleo foods. Read on for our review of The Primal Pantry – Paleo Bars!

Nutrition: They are the UK’s first Paleo bar which means that they do not contain any grains, refined sugars, or vegetable oils. Each bar has 4-6 real raw foods -just simple ingredients making them simply healthy – so let’s get stuck right in and see how they stack up taste wise.

Taste:

Brazil Nut & Cherry
I could instantly smell and taste the sweetness of the cherries before it even got past my lips. I was pleasantly surprised with the combination of a soft crunchy texture that seemed to melt and crumble in unison. The brazil nuts gives the bar an earthy smooth taste and texture that feels rustic and wholesome. The dates give it a chewy, sweet consistency and enliven the taste buds. A useful physiological as well as psychological boost after a heavy workout at the gym!

Hazelnut & Cocoa
Don’t know about you but whenever I read the word “cocoa”, it, no holds barred, immediately has me thinking of chocolate. This bar has a much more rugged texture with its double dose of nuts. The cocoa is noticeable and very satisfying but not at all overwhelming as some raw cocoa bars can be. I think Primal Pantry has got the balance of ingredients and flavours just right here as this indulgent bar could well render your usual chocolate fix obsolete especially as it’s without the nasties.

Apple & Pecan
The scent of apple oozes out when you pull the packet open, quickly followed by the smell of cinnamon. Sinking my teeth into this bar felt like I was overindulging on cake. The pecan flavour is mild and balanced tying all the ingredients together making this a zesty, textural delight to bite.

Coconut & Macadamia
The coconut in this bar does three amazing things; reminds you of exotic, (even romantic) summers with its fresh scent and flavour which giving the bar a grain-like consistency which seamlessly combines with the nuts to provide you with a gorgeous taste sensation. This bar is surprisingly succulent and seems to make you want to savour the flavour and appreciate each bite, enjoying it for longer instead of wolfing it down in our helter-skelter, rush-about lives! Yep thankfully the coconut flavour lingers and feels very refreshing.

Almond & Cashew
This powerful combination out of nature’s armoury of primitive-yet-puissant nuts gives this bar a rich and wholesome flavour and satisfying texture. It’s creamy and indulgently gooey with a nutty bite, making every mouthful feel like a fortifying, power-packed treat. If like me, you enjoy a nutty nibble in between meals, this bar is a smart choice. Also ideal for when you’re having those big event days, or training more intensely in the gym, bring on the next round!

Value: You can get your hands on a multipack for £2.99 that contains four bars. Each multipack contains the same flavour, so if you want to try the lot before committing to four of the same, you can buy a taster box for £9.99 with every bar they have to offer so you can zero-in on your favourites.

Summary: We were pleasantly surprised with the range of flavours put together here with the same reliable Paleo quality ingredients running right through them. For the health foodies amongst you, these are the bars to go for when you want to fuel up or comfort treat yourself. We have to admit we’re pretty impressed with the Primal Pantry real food revolution and are soon to replenish our own pantry with our favourite flavours. This is exactly what food should be about – enjoyment without a single ounce of guilt!
