Nutural World – Nut Butters

If you’re nutty about nuts, then you’re in for a real treat here! The creator and mastermind behind Nutural World and their artisan nut butters is an avid long-distance cyclist and nutrition advocate, Mordechai Chachamu. As a top sports performer, he appreciably understood that food is the fuel of the body and after lots of research, strongly believed he’d discovered the perfect product to improve his energy levels during long bike rides and cure his craving for a tasty treat without added processed sugars, additives and unnecessary harmful oils; Nutural World was born and the rest as they say is history! As a nut butter fanatic, I was fortunate to ‘nut-test’ three flavours; Pistachio, Almond & Coconut and Pecan & Figs, read on for our full review…

High in healthy fats, vitamins, minerals and plenty of nutrient dense calories, nuts can be an excellent source of fuel to add to your daily diet. Although they can be moreish in texture and taste, they also provide many health benefits including improved brain function and promoting feelings of happiness. Of course, you can eat nuts in their natural form, but for many people natural nut butter is one of the most delicious easy-to-use spreads which can be eaten at any time of day. Use it as part of your lunchtime routine in those wholemeal, spelt or rye sandwiches, crispbreads or even plaster it on sticks of celery, carrot or slices of apple for a great snack to keep your hunger gremlins at bay and prevent savagely raiding of the closest cookie jar! However, limiting yourself to one type of one nut butter (perhaps of the peanut variety) isn’t by any means mandatory. There are such a variety of tastes and flavours out there, you’d be silly not to explore some the vast possibilities that the nut butter family has to offer.

Ingredients

Pistachio: Pistachio (100%)

Almond & Coconut: Almonds (90%), Coconut cream (10%), Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla

Pecan & Figs: Pecan nuts (89%), Dried Figs (11%), Cinnamon

Nutrition: As we all know, good nutrition is essential for optimal functioning of the body and brain, therefore ensuring we get enough vital nutrients is important for overall health as well as boosting performance. Unfortunately, fats tend to have a bad reputation due to being so calorie dense at 9 calories per gram, but it is very important to understand that there are two types of fats; healthy fats and unhealthy fats. The nut butters from Nutural World are full of healthy fats (unsaturated fats) which are very important for overall health as they help to regulate your hormones, satisfy appetite and mood, absorb vitamins and minerals, lower bad cholesterol and can act as anti-inflammatories too.

Each jar is 170g in size and weight but the macronutrients are similar to standard nut butters that you can find on the shelves. All Nutural World products are certified as sugar free by Sugarwise -however when it comes to taste, these nut butters are in a league of their own.

Taste, texture, look and smell

Pistachio: After unscrewing the lid and releasing the appealing scent of pistachio into the air, I satisfyingly knew it was natural and raw with no added nasties so felt extremely keen to give it a try! The dark green colour was intriguing and soothing, I took my spoon and gave it a dip which fortunately glided in with minimal resistance. As I brought the spoon to my mouth and took the taste test, it matched the flavour and texture I was searching for; soft, creamy and full of satiating pistachio power!

Almond & Coconut: As a keen coconut enthusiast, I was looking forward to delving into this one. I’ve always preferred almond butter to peanut butter, but had never experienced the mix of almond and coconut. The lid came off, the knife took a swipe into the light brown mixture and was soon spread upon one of the homemade protein pancakes I made earlier and let me tell you, it was fantastic. The scent was slight and the coconut certainly did not overpower the almond; it was a perfect 50/50 blended combination (just like a good marriage). The texture was slightly grainier than the pistachio version with the coconut coming across refreshing yet subtle.

Pecan & Figs: Oh my word, this flavour is dangerously delicious! (If I don’t practice some self-restraint, I’m sure I’ll develop an addiction similar to that of many of the top gamblers in the adult playground of Las Vegas!) Although the other flavours were phenomenal and difficult to put down, this is by far my favourite and one of the most scrumptious spreads I’ve ever tried. The pecans seemed to have a warm, maple-type fragrance so unlocking the jar was a real pleasure. I then took a giant spoon and plunged it into the nutty, gooey, tree bark coloured topping and without hesitation, devoured it there and then like a predator on prey! This time, the consistency included an added crunch (from the pecans) yet the fruity sweetness of fig kept the spread light and upbeat which made it easy to apply on any food source. The burnt caramel taste from the pecans combined with fig was delightful and would make a fantastic topping added to any breakfast, dessert, ice cream or cake. Healthy, appetising and more than satisfying, this nut butter is certainly one to commend without hesitation!

Value: These 170g jars are slightly smaller than the average nut butters you’ll find in regular stores, but the quality goes above and beyond what the vast majority offer. This makes a great choice for those who are interested in consuming 100% natural sources of food which not only taste phenomenal but also aim to improve a person’s physical health. I have no qualms about recommending these products as they’re well worth the extra spend. The Pistachio is £7.80, Almond & Coconut, £5.10 and Pecan & Figs, £6.30 There are also many other varieties to choose from available via Nutural World’s website and if you’d like a tasting sampler the company also sells mini tubs at £2.50 each. It’s worthwhile mentioning that any purchase above £30 is eligible for free delivery and with a ‘free-delivery’ coupon any orders over £10 attract free shipping.

Summary: As an avid nut butter consumer, I am always on the hunt for the most delicious, nutritious and supercilious products on the market because ‘health is wealth’ and I definitely won’t settle for the artificial versions just because they are cheaper. When you are looking for the perfect nut spread, quality should be preferred over quantity. Many shop bought nut butters contain other ingredients such as sugar, additives and hydrogenated palm oils, all of which compromise the quality of the product, the health benefits and the planet. Nutural World products are filled with 100% natural ingredients to benefit your body and provide quality fuel in a very satisfying way; the taste and texture formula are absolutely ‘spot on’. Okay, price is slightly higher in comparison to others but then again, they’re in a different league and I can guarantee you’ll be thrilled with the flavour – well worth adding to your basket next time you’re in the food store.
